Give to Gain: This International Women’s Day, I’m Giving Back to Women’s Health
This International Women’s Day, the theme is Give to Gain — the idea that when we give our time, energy, and knowledge, everyone benefits. It’s a principle I believe in deeply, and it’s one that sits at the heart of my work as a nutritional therapist.
So this year, I’m marking IWD by giving something I hope will make a real difference: free 30-minute Hormone Health Kickstart Calls on 20 and 21 March. And for every call booked, I will donate £10 to The Menstrual Health Project.
But before I tell you more about that, I want to shine a light on some of the extraordinary organisations doing vital work for women’s health — because this day is bigger than any one of us.
Organisations making a difference for women’s health
The Menstrual Health Project
The Menstrual Health Project is a UK charity providing educational tools, workplace and school sessions, and awareness around menstrual health conditions. Their mission is to bridge the gap between patient and professional — something that feels long overdue. Too many women are still told their symptoms are ‘normal’ or ‘just hormones’, without being given the information or support they deserve. This charity is working to change that.
Endometriosis UK
Endometriosis affects around 1 in 10 women and people assigned female at birth, yet it takes an average of eight years to receive a diagnosis. Endometriosis UK provides vital support and information for anyone affected, while working to increase understanding among healthcare professionals, employers, and the wider public. If you or someone you know has been struggling to get answers, their resources are a wonderful place to start.
Hey Girls
Period poverty is still a reality for many people in the UK, and Hey Girls is doing something practical and powerful about it. A buy-one, donate-one social enterprise, they create plant-powered period products and ensure that for every product sold, one is donated to someone who needs it. They work with food banks, women’s centres, youth clubs and schools to ensure dignified access to period products for all.
The PMDD Project
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder is a severe, cyclical condition that can be utterly debilitating — yet it remains widely misunderstood and misdiagnosed. The PMDD Project is the UK’s first charity dedicated solely to PMDD, with a mission to break down barriers through raising awareness, providing peer support, and funding research. For anyone who has spent years wondering why they feel so unlike themselves at certain points in their cycle, this organisation is a lifeline.
The Menopause Charity
Menopause affects every woman, yet so many still navigate it without adequate information or support. The Menopause Charity is working to change that — providing trusted, evidence-based information, sharing real stories, and helping women make informed choices about their health. Because menopause should not be something we simply endure.
The bigger picture
What unites all of these organisations, and what drives my own work, is the belief that women deserve better. Better information, better support, and better understanding of their own bodies.
So many of the women I speak to have spent years feeling exhausted, foggy, emotionally unpredictable, or simply not themselves and have been told it’s stress, or age, or something to push through. Sometimes it is those things. But very often, there is something hormonal at play, and the right nutritional and lifestyle support can make a profound difference.
That is why I trained as a nutritional therapist, and it is why I am offering these calls.
